Tesco breaks into digital
Press releases 15/04/2008 - Tesco breaks into digital Tesco today announces the launch of Tesco Digital – a one-stop shop for everybody’s entertainment needs. In a move likely to shake-up the online entertainment world, the retailer’s first offering from the new service, launching in May, will be the availability of music to download for iPod and MP3 players.Currently Tesco’s music download service is only available in Windows Media format. The move, the first of its kind by any supermarket, is just the beginning of a wider Tesco Digital strategy which will offer episodic TV, films and even games in the near future.Graham Harris, Commercial Director at Tesco comments: “The new Tesco Digital site is more than a music download portal – we wanted to create an exciting and easy-to-use entertainment shop that Tesco customers of all ages and technical ability can use and trust. We’re starting out with a comprehensive music offering, but customers can expect downloadable TV and films as well as games to buy very soon.”
